I read your “Open Letter to G-d” which can be found at:  http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?id=229.  I thought very seriously about writing my own “open letter to G-d” but did not want to add blasphemy on top of blasphemy so I decided to write to you instead. 

Are you so single-minded, so arrogant, so shallow, to actually believe that G-d sent the hurricane in response to the GOP convention?   G-d displaced thousands and thousands of people, made them leave their homes, possibly losing all but their lives….and ALL in response to the GOP convention??  Now maybe you are just trying to be funny…..so for that you get an “A” in effort.  But unfortunately you get an “NF” on the “letter.”  For NOT Funny.

Actually Mike…may I call you Mike?   Actually, to be serious,  I think you may be on to something.  But I will try to be a little less shallow, a little less single minded, and a little less arrogant in trying to figure it out.

We all know that G-d controls even the smallest of details.  We all know that G-d Himself is the Creator of Life.  And I think we can agree that G-d both authored and inspired a book most call “The Bible.”

Look at the actions of our country.  How many children are murdered each year in the name of “convenience?”  Under the guise of “choice?”   While I can find NO mention of the GOP in this Book we call “The Bible”, I can however, find places where G-d says that all men were created in the “Image of G-d.”  Which would mean that we all have a “divine spark” of the Infinite.  Knowing that G-d creates all life, and knowing now that ALL have a “Spark of the Divine” in them, I wonder how G-d sees us treating life so callously and murdering His creation everyday??  And not only murdering everyday, but having it sanctioned and legalized by our government.  Even sometimes murdering those children after they have been born….at least partially.  HM-M-M-M….now being a former….what did you call it??…….”faithful servant and former seminarian”…..how do you think G-d views that?  Of course….G-d was just having “a little fun.”  It couldn’t have been the murders of thousands of children that could bring judgement down on our little land. 

And there is another thing…..the bigger thing I think.  One that, if we could get this right….we could get other things right as well.  I don’t know if you know,  being the shallow, single-minded, arrogant person that you are, but during this time that these hurricanes were building up, Ms. Condolezza Rice was in Israel working to divide Jerusalem and working to bring about a creation of a so-called Palestinian State.  Now, being the Bible Scholar that you are, you will know that this one thing will bring down judgement on our land so fast that we will have no doubt as to where it comes from.  Even you must know, being a….what was that again????  Oh yeah…..”faithful servant and former seminarian”…..maybe especially you…must know that the Bible says:  “Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep” in Psalm 121:4.   And again in Ezekial 39:27-29:  “When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD”.   And yet again….one that we should sit up and pay attention to:  Zechariah 12:9 says “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”

Now surely I am preaching to the choir here, but these three examples are just three among hundreds of references about how G-d chose Israel and protects them….even now. 

I don’t know….but this kind of makes the GOP thing seem kind of small and insignificant.  Right Mike?  And it kind of makes you realize that MAYBE we should vote for leaders who hold these values…..the ones spoken of in the Bible, so that in doing so…..we may save this country that we live in. 

I am sure that G-d was impressed that so many of his “followers tipped their hats to Him.”  Too bad you weren’t there to congratulate Him in the beginning when He created this whole world we live in.  I don’t know how He got through it without so much as a “good job.”  

The arrogance is unbelievable.  But maybe you should pay attention to the larger picture….for once in your life.  Pay attention to what G-d is telling us on the one hand, and what we are doing on the other.

From the Jews and the Torah that G-d gave to them, we get our courts of justice, our laws, and our rules for living in society.  Because of them, we have a glimpse into the writings of our Creator.  Because of them and their willingness to follow the One True G-d, we exist.

We, as a people, a nation, and a world, need to stand with Israel.  And in doing so, we will save ourselves.

This quote is taken from “Sages and Dreamers” written by Elie Wiesel.

When I read that quote, it shook my whole being.  So much of what this Jewish author writes does, but this really stood out.  The world, as a whole, hates the Jew.  There really is no way to explain this.  There really is no way to UNDERSTAND this.  And so, down through the ages, the Jews have suffered the worse pograms, the inquistion, the holocaust, expulsion, and the worse possible persecution that any people in history have ever endured.  It defies logic.  It defies the conscience.  There are no words to describe.

And yet the world, should they ever succeed in destroying the entire Jewish people, would succeed in destroying themselves.  At that point, the world would cease to exist.  It would be thrown into chaos and no person could exist.   The world, working diligently for the destruction of the Jews, are actually working to destory themselves.

It’s so simple.  It’s so easy to see.  It makes so much sense……when you begin to see and understand that the world exists solely because they do.  It makes so much sense when you begin to understand even a little about how this world which we now occupy was created.    G-d created this world with a “blueprint.”  A “plan”, if you will.  That blueprint was and is called the Torah.  It’s the “instruction” manual for how this world is to exist and to work.  The Children of Israel, as a whole, accepted this “manual” and said that they would obey.  No other nation on this earth accepted G-d’s word for this world.  No other nation accepted the the words of the Creator.  Had the Children of Israel also chosen NOT to accept this Instruction Manual that G-d had given, the WHOLE world, NOT just the Children of Israel, would have been destroyed at that moment.  And even now, WE would not be here.  Maybe someone would.  Another world maybe…that G-d had created….that had a people who had the wisdom to accept and obey the Words that G-d had spoken.  Maybe they would be here.  But we would not.  Because a world withOUT Torah cannot exist.  Cannot work.  A world without Torah is a world that self-destructs.  As long as there is someone, somewhere, studying Torah, the world will continue to exist.  If it ever stopped, the world would cease to exist. 

We owe our very existence to a people who chose to follow the One true G-d, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.  His name is NOT Allah.  His name is NOT Jesus.  His name, as told to Moshe is, “Ehyeh asher ehyeh (I will be what I will be).”

The Jews study Torah, NOT only out of love for G-d, but also out of love for the world He created.  And the world, UNable to be grateful, can only hate the reason it exists.  Thank G-d we don’t get what we REALLY deserve.  Thank G-d that He judges THROUGH mercy.  And thank G-d that there is a people who chose to “hear and obey.”

“When I was growing up, I did not know the history of Jerusalem.  We were taught that it was a city taken away from the Arabs by Jewish invaders.  I was never taught that Jerusalem was the ancient capital of the Jews, that King Solomon built the first temple in 957 B.C.E., that it was destroyed in 586 B.C.E., and the Jews taken into exile in Babylon. that the temple was then rebuilt seventy years later, that the city was conquered and reconquered over the many thousands of years, until finally, in C.E. 70, the Romans utterly destroyed the second temple and dispersed the Jews, scattering them to the far-flung edges of the Roman Empire-Spain, Arab lands, and Eurpoe.  Jews everywhere, over the ages when they celebreate Passover, have said the words, “Next Year in Jerusalem,” longing for their homeland.  Furthermore, historically, when things did not go well between Jews and Arabs in Arab countries, Jews were often told by Arabs, “Why don’t you go to Jerusalem, your holy land”-a fact now conveniently forgotten………….”

And she goes on to say………..

“For more than 58 years, Arabs have been blinded by hatred, arrogance, envy, narcissism, and groundless fear.  In the process of destroying Israel, their perceived enemy, they are also destroying themselves.  I sincerely want to bend on my knees and apologize to the Jewish people on behalf of my people.  I am only one person, but I am encouraged by the many emails from Arabs who are also sickened by Arab wickedness toward Israel.

To the people of Israel I want to say:  You are an inspiration to people who choose to see the truth.  You are my heroes.  You are a people of faith who will not submit to the darkness and evil surrounding you.  You live by honorable principles and moral standards and struggle even in your darkest hours to maintain them.  Your courage, persistence, and faith have been an example to me and many other Arabs.  Continue doing what you are doing; never give up; continue riding your buses, continue treating Arabs in your hospitals.  Do not be in a rush for a quick peace agreement.  The people in the area are not ready yet for peace.  Protect yourself from terrorism and, if necessary, keep the fence up high and one day the arrogance, intolerance, and cruelty around you will end when G-d takes away the oil weapon from the hands of Arabs who have used it against you, the world, and ultimately themselves.  The good people of the world must suppose you and the will. I believe that goodness always wins at the end.

I now fully understand why the United States supports Israel and rightfully so.  My love of America now extends to Israel.  i support Israel becaue it is not a threat to Arab nations.  No one in his right mind would think that Israel would want to occupy Damascus, Cairo, or Baghdad.  Israel is fighting for its very existence.  What are Arabs fighting for?  The are not fighting for their existence; they are fighting a religious war that has become a ritual and a goal in and of itself.”

I have heard it said “A fool learns from his own mistakes.  A wise person learns from mistakes of others.”

In this case, this woman made no mistakes.  She was born in Egypt because that is where G-d chose for her to be born.  But we would be fools not to learn from her and to listen to what she has to say about the designs of Islam on Israel and the United States.

Nasrallah Taunts Israel Over Kidnapped Soldiers

“They don’t know if they are alive or if they’re dead, or if one is alive and one is dead,” Nasrallah mocked the Israeli intelligence agency……………..

Everyday I listen to the news and scour the internet looking for news of Israel. There is story after story of kassam rocket attacks, terror attacks, threats of terror attacks, and murder every single day. I read and watch….and pray…..for the people of Israel…..the chosen ones of G-d.

But sometimes I forget that each story is a personal story. Personal to someone….to a family…..a mother, a father, grandmothers, and grandfathers. People who have had a life stolen from them through murder of the worse kind……in the name of a god. This video is a reminder of the people who are left behind and of the sadness and heartbreak they live with on a daily basis. These stories aren’t JUST stories….they are people.

Where is the outrage? Why isn’t the world crying out?? This world…and this United States….. who likes to think of themselves as so compassionate….fair-minded……just. Where are the cries? The sound of our voices should drown out the murdering regimes of the middle east that refuse to let a peaceful country live in peace. And yet there is silence. And as a result, our country has blood on its hands.

It seems we have lost our collective soul. What can be our end if we continue on this path?

Where It All Started

I decided to take a look and see where this all began. Why is it, that the Arab nations, and really, so many other nations just hate Israel? It doesn’t make sense. They have greatly contributed to the worldwide community as a whole. They have been great contributors to science, to the arts, to medicine and to business. The world, as a whole, has been blessed by this nation that G-d chose and set aside. So what is the problem? And where does this senseless hatred come from?

I picked up the only book I knew of that told this story. The story of the beginning of a nation…..a great nation. I picked up the Bible. I read a story about a man named Abram. The Bible says, in Genesis 12: “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

So there it is. The beginning….so to speak.   The beginning of a people that up to this point in history, did not exist.  So…what was so special about Abram that G-d would have chosen him?  What “merit” did this man have that the One G-d of this world would have looked upon…..him?  Up to this point, we really don’t have the answer to that question. 

I decided to read on to try and find the reason for this choice that G-d has made.  I came to chapter 13 of Genesis and I found this:  The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.  All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.  Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”

So G-d has now shown Abram the land he is to receive.  But we still don’t know the reason.  Maybe there was no reason.  Maybe Abram just “won” the equivalent of the lottery.  But I will have to keep reading to find out.

Genesis 15 began to show me more of the relationship G-d had with Abram.  For example:  “After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: ”Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield,  your very great reward.”  But Abram said, “O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

HM-M-M-M…we now know that Abram had no children.  And we now know that G-d is going to give him a child.  We also know that Abram believed G-d when G-d told him these things.  And that was good in G-d’s eyes.  But we still don’t know the reason G-d chose Abram.  I’ll keep reading.  You come back!  And then we’ll both know.

A Palestinian father-of-two has been named as the driver of a bulldozer that careered through Jerusalem today, ramming a public bus, running over vehicles, and leaving three people dead.

The title of this blog comes from this video. It comes from a father who heard a kassam drop close to the dorms where his children were. As he jumped on his bike to get there……he kept yelling, “Just not the children, just not the children!!”

The one thing that struck me about this video is that these are ordinary people just trying to make a living, raise their children, and live their lives. They aren’t soldiers. The kids aren’t in school learning songs about “death to muslims.” The children aren’t learning how to grow up and murder others. They are just ordinary people, living in extraordinary times.

The Arab world would have us believe that these people are murderers, killers, thieves. They would have us believe that the land of Israel belongs to the muslims and that they have a “right” to “their ancient homeland.” And yet, anyone who knows anything of the history knows that there ARE NO SUCH PEOPLE AS THE PALESTINIANS! Anyone who bothers to pick up a book would know that the land of Israel has belonged to the Jews for about 3000 years. It would be obvious that, no matter how often the country was captured and overrun, the Jews have always maintained a presence in the land. The so-called “Palestinian People” are a created, political tool in the hands of murderous regimes. These Arab nations that came against Israel after she declared her independence found that they could not beat Israel in a war. They did not, and DO not, understand that there is One G-d, and this One G-d protects Israel. As a result, Yasser Arafat “legitimized” himself, became the “respected” leader of the so-called and, may I add, newly founded “Palestinian” People, and they started a political jihad.

This lie, which has now been spread throughout the world with the help and complicity of the media, has put Israel at odds with the world. The pressure put on Israel is unprecedented. Has a sovreign nation ever had so much pressue put on them by other “allies” of this nation to give up her land AND her national security? It’s unheard of! And Israel’s so-called allies, one of which is the United States, knows that Israel is attacked DAILY. People are hurt and killed by kassam rockets that land in the small towns closest to Gaza…..an area that Israel was pressured into giving up.

But it’s not enough. Although the “friends” of Israel know that Israel is attacked daily, it doesn’t matter. They want more. This small country is now being asked……or should I say pressured…..to give up the West Bank. We have already seen what the “peace-loving Palestinians” did with Gaza. Can we really expect anything different if Olmert bends to the will of the U.S?

We are living in serious times with serious issues. And it would seem that the world has just lost its way. They see murderous regimes that think nothing of killing innocent children and they see Israel…..a nation who has wanted nothing more than to be left alone to live their lives in peace with each other and their neighbors. And the world has chosen these murderous regimes.

My cries echo those of that father in the video…….Not the children, just not the children……..

Psalm 137:5-6: If I forget you, O Jerusalem,may my right hand forget its skill, May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

Isaiah 62:1-3:  1 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.  The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow.  You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

I guess I shouldn’t say that they didn’t stop at all. They actually did……for about 3 days. Just enough time for Hamas to ‘reload.’ Did we ever think it would be any different? Did we really think that Hamas was going to just lay down their arms and walk away? Of course not. No thinking, rational person would ever think such a thing. That the so-called ‘truce’ didn’t last comes as no surprise. I think the real surprise is that it actually lasted for 3 days! And the tragic part is that, once again, Israel was willing to abide by the terms……again showing the world that they are willing to try and have peace……..even knowing that peace can never be had with murderers.

But you know you what I find the most absurd, ludicrous thing of all? That after breaking the truce and firing the rockets and causing injury and oftentimes death to people who are just trying to live their lives…….they have come out and accused Israel of violating the cease fire! It’s like asking a child if they have been in the chocolate cookies, they say ‘no’ and all the while they have chocolate all over their mouths. Terrorists lie easier than they tell the truth…..even as they are holding the rockets in their very hands.

But what’s worse to me, and what saddens me, is that many people will hear the words of Hamas, of Islamic Jihad, of Hezbollah, of Fatah, and believe every word that comes out of their mouths. They take the word of murderers, whose very reason for living and existing is to take the lives of innocent people. They aren’t ‘freedom fighters’ as some would have you believe…..they are murderers who take pride and joy in murdering innocents. Have we forgotten the horrible murder of a man and his young daughter in Israel? The story is heart-breaking and the suffering unimaginable. You can read that story here: Co-Conspirators to Murder. I can’t imagine living with the knowledge that my husband and daughter were murdered in the most horrific, horrible way imaginable and still continue to go on and lead a somewhat productive life. And this is just one incident out of thousands. And sadly, this murdering incident seems to be the norm, not the exception. If they aren’t murdered in their homes as they eat, sleep, and live, or they aren’t blown up in a grocery store as they do their weekly shopping, then they run the risk of having a kassam rocket dropped on their homes. This is how the Jews live……in their own land, in their own homes.

How long will the world turn a blind eye to murder? What has happened to our world that it can’t tell the difference between murderers and innocent victims?? I don’t understand this hatred that so many people have for the people that G-d chose. Their warped view of the facts that to them makes so much sense and makes them indifferent to the suffering of G-d’s chosen.

We’re living in a time where people can’t see the difference between right and wrong, between good and evil. Isaiah 5:20 says: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

Israel is the good. G-d chose Israel and set them apart. He has now brought them back to their land and established them there once again…..as was promised and prophesied about so long ago. We are watching the fulfillment of prophesy right before our very eyes, as if watching a movie. We are living in trying times…..times that very well may result in the coming of the Jewish Moshiach, a descendent of King David and the rightful King…..of the whole world. May He come speedily and in our time.

Everyday, the first thing I do is check the headlines to see what has happened in Israel overnight. I can’t explain enough that, as Israel goes, so goes the rest of the world. The world would not and can not survive without Israel. Countries that plan and call and hope for the destruction of the people that G-d Himself chose, are actually planning and calling for their own demise.

I almost feel like a spectator in this world rather than a participant. Almost as if I am standing on the sidelines and just watching. And what I see just floors me. I stand in amazement at what people do, at what people say, and what people think and it would seem as if the world has gone mad. What’s happening now makes no sense. There is no right and wrong anymore…..unless of course you choose to stand up for something you believe in. It would be at that point that you would be wrong. And so I shift back to the focal point of the whole world. Isn’t it amazing that the whole world is focused on a very small piece of land somewhere in the middle east? I know it’s not much, but to find out what is wrong with our world, I know I will have to start there. This little tiny country known as Israel is the place I will need to start my search, and I will work my way OUT from there. And I know, that at the end of my journey, I will find that the world got it wrong when it comes to Israel…..and now the world is the one in the wrong. Devastating earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, crop failures, economic failures…..and the list goes on. People stand up and blame global warming, our government, and whomever else they can think of on which to blame the ills of our world…..and yet the answer lies in that little, tiny piece of land somewhere in the middle east called…..Israel.

So this is the beginning of my search…..of my journey if you will, to find the cause. To try and find out where we first went wrong….where we first strayed from the plan that this world was created with. Many a people, religion, and nation have tried to change the Plan that G-d created this world with and according to. That has got to be arrogance at its finest. Because really, how can you hope to win such a battle? You really can’t, but that is a question for another day and another post.

For now, where and how we went wrong….and what seems to lie ahead…..and what is happening as a result, and what is happening at this moment is going to be my focus. I encourage all comments, thoughts, and ideas as this journey goes on. And when/if we get to the end……we might be surprised as to where we end up!
